Kumar Abhishek is the Director of Data Science at JetBlue Airways. Since joining a year ago, Kumar has led the Data Science and Advanced AI Engineering teams across the enterprise, partnering with business divisions to drive the data strategy and further the JetForward initiative. Prior to joining JetBlue, Kumar spent almost 17 years at United Airlines, where he led multiple data science and analytics teams, specifically for network planning and operations. At United, Kumar spearheaded the development of data science and AI tools, along with using advanced analytics to further growth strategy and improve operational reliability. He also led major improvements to the flight network across several hubs, boosting revenue through optimization, AI, and close collaboration with senior leadership. Kumar has a Ph.D. in operations research and is passionate about fostering diverse and inclusive teams, with a focus on innovation, critical thinking, and creating a fun environment that empowers people to solve tough problems together.
