John Rodgerson, Chief Executive Officer, Azul Brazilian Airlines

John Rodgerson joined the company in 2008 as one of its co-founders and has played a key role in its development over the past decade. Under the leadership of David Neeleman and John Rodgerson, Azul has become Brazil's largest airline by number of cities, serving more than 160 destinations in the country. With annual revenues of over R$ 15.0 billion and more than 16,000 crew members, Azul was recognized by TripAdvisor as the best airline in the world. John has played an important role in the development of Azul, its strong corporate culture and differentiated customer service. Prior to becoming Azul's CEO in 2017, John served as the company's CFO, being responsible for raising more than US$1billion in financial resources and leading the airline's IPO process, which took place simultaneously in São Paulo, at B3, and in New York, at the New York Stock Exchange. Prior to joining Azul, John was Director of Financial Planning at JetBlue between 2003 and 2008, where he fell in love with the airline industry. Prior to JetBlue, he worked at IBM Global Services. John holds a bachelor's degree in finance from Brigham Young University. He has lived in Brazil for over 15 years, and in addition to his busy schedule as CEO, he does volunteer work as an English teacher.
