Dr Vanessa Rohlf is a research fellow at La Trobe University. In additional to her academic role, she is a registered clinical counsellor with the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA). Through the provision of counselling, group debriefs, tailored workshops and consultation with leaders, Dr Rohlf, supports animal care professionals including veterinarians, veterinary nurses and technicians, helping them navigate through challenging aspects of work to foster wellbeing and mental health. She also works directly with pet owners facing difficulties such as caregiver burden and grief. Given her clinical background, her research at La Trobe University focuses on human-animal relationships, particularly in the areas of workplace wellbeing and patient-centred care in veterinary clinics. She supervises honours and PhD students in the Anthrozoology Research Group, creates online short courses, publishes in peer-reviewed journal articles and presents at various conferences.
