Lorenzo Parola is the Founding and Managing Partner of Parola Associati – Società tra Avvocati a r.l. Mr Parola is both admitted to the Italian Supreme Court (Corte di Cassazione) and as a Solicitor of England and Wales. He is one of the leading energy transition and energy technology lawyers in Italy having been involved in some of the most complex and “first of a kind” transactions in the sector. Mr Parola advises, infrastructure and private equity funds, utilities, telecoms operators, digital infrastructure platforms and industrial clients on M&A, joint ventures, project development and complex commercial transactions across the infrastructure sector, with a particular emphasis on energy and digital infrastructure. His experience covers renewables, power, oil and gas, energy transition, circular economy, data centers and fibre networks. He has a strong track record in the permitting, regulatory and contractual issues arising in connection with the development, construction, operation and arbitations of strategic infrastructure projects, including renewable and CCGT plants, interconnectors, LNG regasification terminals, gas storage facilities, biomethane plants, data centers and fibre infrastructure. He is known for advising on highly structured, sector-specific commercial arrangements, including PPAs, tolling agreements, take-or-pay GSAs, LNG SPAs, pipeline transportation agreements, EPC and O&M contracts, energy efficiency contracts, colocation and data centre services agreements, fiber rollout and network access arrangements, and physical and financial trading arrangements. Mr Parola also acts as counsel and arbitrator in domestic and international arbitrations concerning energy and infrastructure projects, with particular experience in M&A, natural gas or electricity sales agreements and construction disputes. He is an Adjunct Faculty Member at Luiss Business School - where he teaches courses on both M&A, and AI ethics, and governance - and a Visiting Professor in various master’s and advanced university courses (LLM in Law of Internet Technology at Bocconi University, Master in Energy Management (MEM) at Polytechnic of Milan School of Management, Master in Energy and Environmental Services Regulation – Corso di alta formazione in Regolazione dei servizi energetici e ambientali at University of Siena). He has been a member of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Sustainable Value Creation Committee at Italgas S.p.A. (the Italian listed utility which is the major European distribution system operator). He is actively devoted to pro bono projects in favour of its own Community, with a focus on teaching education to legality and fighting cyber-bullying in secondary schools.
