Lydia Kapangila, CEO, African Youth In Energy Network

Lydia Kapangila is a business development professional, energy and sustainability advocate, and youth leader with a strong focus on Africa’s energy transition, infrastructure development, and investment facilitation. She is a graduate of Business Development Studies and Financial Planning with the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB), equipping her with expertise in strategic planning, financial management, investment analysis, and enterprise growth. Lydia has also completed multiple United Nations– certified courses in areas such as sustainable development, climate action, energy transition, youth leadership, and SDG-aligned policy frameworks, strengthening her global perspective and commitment to inclusive growth. Lydia is the Founder of the African Youth in Energy Network (AYEN), a pan-African platform empowering young professionals, especially women, to actively participate in the energy sector.

Through AYEN, she has led initiatives in energy education, policy dialogue, investment engagement, and skills development, collaborating with industry leaders, investors, and development partners. Her contributions have been recognized on a continental level: in 2025, Lydia was named one of Africa Energy Chamber’s 20 Under 40 Women in Energy Rising Stars, highlighting her growing influence and impact in the sector. Beyond advocacy, Lydia is involved in energy, infrastructure, and impact-driven projects, including investment facilitation, stakeholder engagement, and project development across Southern and East Africa. She is also a documentary producer, using storytelling to spotlight Africa’s energy challenges, opportunities, and transformative projects
