Silindile Pepi Zungu is the South African Country Director at Genesis Energy Group, one of Africa’s foremost developers in the Power, Gas, and Renewable Energy sectors. With over a decade of experience in business development, energy advisory, and strategic stakeholder engagement, Pepi leads the origination and development of bankable Off-grid Gas to Power and renewable energy projects across South Africa and the COMESA region. Her work focuses on building the ecosystems required for large-scale energy project implementation, fostering strategic partnerships, and positioning GENESIS as a key player in Africa’s evolving energy landscape. Pepi brings extensive cross-sector experience, having worked with Development Agencies, Special Economic Zones, and Business Incubators across South Africa. Before joining Genesis Energy Group, she held key roles at Freeport Saldanha (where she supported green hydrogen and industrial development initiatives), the Small Enterprise Development Agency (SEDA), and the Soshanguve Technology Demonstration Centre (SMTDC). Her career reflects a strong commitment to economic development, industrial innovation, and sustainable energy solutions. Academically, Pepi holds an Honours Bachelor of Commerce in Transport Economics, a Bachelor of Commerce in Transport Economics and Logistics, a PRINCE2® Practitioner Certificate in Project Management, and a Data Analysis certification from the University of Cape Town. She is currently completing her Master’s in Energy Leadership through the University of the Witwatersrand.
