David Hutchful, CTO/Co-Founder, Bloom Impact

David Hutchful is an entrepreneur, design thinker, and software developer. He is passionate about designing and building solutions that are informed by a nuanced understanding of the socio-economic and cultural contexts of the problems. 
With more than 18 years’ experience in design and software development, he has created award winning, innovative platforms that bring about social and economic change in the areas of Finance, Agriculture and Health.  He is a Design Thinking consultant assisting government institutions and private companies develop and implement innovation strategies that help them achieve their missions in a human-centred manner.
Mr. Hutchful is currently co-founder of Bloom Impact, a startup which is democratizing access to finance for small to medium sized enterprises. He is also currently an Adjunct faculty at Ashesi University.
Previously, Mr. Hutchful served as the Director of Technology Innovation at the Grameen Foundation working at the intersection of technology and international development. In this capacity he contributed to the strategy, field implementation and scale up of innovative mobile-based solutions that address the needs of the poor. Before joining Grameen, he was a member of the Technology for Emerging Markets (TEM) Group at Microsoft Research where he conducted research, published and consulted on the design and use of technology in the areas of education and financial services. 
Mr. Hutchful received undergraduate degrees in Computer Science and Philosophy from Calvin College and a Master’s degree in Information with a specialization in Human-Computer Interaction from the University of Michigan. When he is not hacking ideas or technology, David loves to read, travel and experience different cultures. He is also always available to play or watch football.
