Pedro Sousa Cardoso is the Chief Digital Officer Retail Banking & wealth Management for Emirates NBD, the leading Banking Group in the MENAT region. He leads the digital transformation agenda and the cross functional business and engineering teams that bring to life the products,services and experiences across the various segments and businesses. He is also the head of Liv, Emirates NBD Digital Bank, considered one of the fast-growing digital ventures in the region and a global case study. Sousa Cardoso brings 25+ years of experience in financial services across Europe, Asia and Middle East, where he held positions in various banks and financial institutions covering strategy and products, digital and technology, and marketing and data. In his previous role as Senior Managing Director and Global Head of Digital Commerce at Standard Chartered Bank in Singapore headquarters, he was responsible for all-digital platforms in the group, digital business growth, customer experience and the global design function across retail and wealth businesses globally. In his career he pioneered and developed several digital banking businesses and initiatives in Europe and collaborated with digital ventures and fintech’s worldwide. In addition, he has also served as director in the board of Standard Chartered Malaysia Berhad.
With executive education accreditations from the University of Berkeley, MIT, Harvard, The Wharton School, a bachelor’s in marketing management and an MBA in economics, Sousa Cardoso is an avid learner craving for knowledge of the world at large, combining both academic and hands on experience.
