Prof. Dheeraj Kumar Dy. Director, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad & Project Director & Director, TEXMiN Foundation Dheeraj has over 20 years of experience. Currently, in the capacity of Deputy Director of IIT(ISM) Dhanbad and heading TEXMiN as a Project Director has performed several management roles including project management in mining projects related to strategy and operations improvement engagements, techno-commercial feasibility assessment, project planning and monitoring, safety auditing, feasibility studies, MDO-related assignment, and underground & opencast mining advisory & implementation in India and across the globe. He has advised multiple clients on strategy development and business planning. Handled various projects and capacity-building programs related to mine digitization, monitoring, automation, and indigenous mining technologies for safe and productive mines. Dheeraj’s expertise covers exposure and experience in consulting and operating businesses across the mining value chain. Additionally, he gained broad experience in developing innovation & start-up ecosystems in the Mining and Earth Science domains. Most recently, through the establishment of the Section 8 company TEXMiN, mandated to carry out mining technology innovations with substantial funding from the Government (NMICPS-DST) and private organizations. He is also experienced in successfully leading large and complex projects/established Centre of Excellence (CoEs) like SANDVIK Mine Automation Learning Centre (SMAC), Coal India Innovation and Incubation Centre (CII Centre), Dassault Mining Technology Centre, ESRI-TEXMiN Geospatial Centre, Carlson Geodesy Lab for Mine Surveying, Adani Experience Centre for Real Time Mining, Tata Steel Innovation Centre on Mining & Mineral Research, TEXMiN – Hexagon Centre of Digital Transformation in Mining, Mapping & Monitoring, IMiN – Centre of Excellence in Mining 4.0 by CIL and many more in pipeline for technology & startup support, industry/consulting & R & D projects and prepare workforce of the future, specific to the mining and allied industries with complete pit-to-port optimization. His experience encompasses various commodities, including coal, ferrous/non-ferrous metals, precious & base metals, and critical minerals.
