BIOGRAPHY Renée Ong-de Jong studied law at the University of Leiden (Netherlands), obtaining her masters degree in civil law in 2002. She joined the legal department of the National Office for Identity Data, a specialised agency of the Dutch Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations, in 2003. In 2012, she moved to the Ministry’s Research & Development department, where she became an Advisor on Travel Documents and is responsible for the physical features of these documents. Renée is since 2012 actively involved in ICAO’s Implementation and Capacity Building Working Group and leads its Information and Communications sub-working group and the Mandatory and optional data fields sub-working group. Beside this she participates in several other sub-working groups. In 2024, she was involved in the development and introduction of the latest model of the Dutch passport and identity card. Currently, she is the driving force behind the development and introduction of the upcoming model.
