Srirangaraj (Ranga) Setlur is a Principal Research Scientist and Co-Director of the Center for Unified Biometrics and Sensors (CUBS) and Associate Director of the Institute for AI and Data Science at the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York. He also serves as Co-Director of the UB site of the NSF Center for Identification Technology Research (CITeR) and as Managing Director of the National AI Institute for Exceptional Education, funded by the National Science Foundation and the US Department of Education.  His research focus is on the development of vision and language-based AI systems with applications in areas such as human identification using modalities such as whole-body, face and fingerprints, handwriting recognition, historical document and infographics processing, and education.  Setlur has also held leadership roles at numerous academic conferences in the fields of computer vision, biometrics and document analysis.
