John Fiske | Former Director Data Protection

John Fiske, Former Director Data Protection, Meta

John has had a 30 year career in the global technology sector, with strong experience in product management, operations, compliance and general management.  Over 12 years at SAP, he led product management for a portfolio of information management applications, was COO for a large business unit, and launched a Center of Excellence around enterprise information management.  Over 6 subsequent years at Meta, he served as Global Director of Data Protection.  In this role he oversaw Meta’s compliance with numerous data protection regulations and internal policies, and explored many of the tensions between privacy and online safety. These questions led him to explore various questions around identity assurance. This in turn led to a fellowship at the Harvard Kennedy School where he studied societal risks from identity assurance and most recently to recommend identity assurance as one of the structural safeguards required for online safety improvement. John lives in Arlington Virginia with his family.
