Jason Lim is the Digital Transformation Counselor for the Administrator of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to serve as a strategic advisor, guiding the agency’s leadership in leveraging digital technologies to enhance security operations, improve efficiency, and adapt to evolving threats. This role involves developing and implementing comprehensive digital strategies, overseeing technology integration, and ensuring that digital initiatives align with TSA’s mission and objectives. Jason was previously the Identity Management Capability Manager for TSA. In this role, Jason is charged to ensure the effective and efficient integration of identity-related activities and prioritization of resources through a unified strategy that enhances the enrollment, validation, vetting, authentication, and verification of populations throughout the TSA enterprise. Jason has been with TSA since July 2007. Jason Lim has an MS from Naval Postgraduate School in Security Studies, MPA from Harvard Kennedy School, and MS from NYU Wagner School of Public Service. He graduated from Duke University with a BSE in Biomedical Engineering. Jason was selected as the 2007-2008 Fellow at Harvard Korea Institute, where his research focused on leadership archetypes in Asian history.

This talk will explore TSA’s ongoing efforts to enhance security and improve operational efficiency through the adoption of key initiatives that include the integration of biometrics for touchless identity verification, implementation of mobile driver’s licenses (mDLs) and other forms of digital IDs, and how these are being combined to fully automate identity verification via E-Gates. These advancements are designed to strengthen identity assurance, reduce vulnerabilities, and streamline the passenger experience. The session will also highlight TSA’s partnerships with federal, state, and private-sector stakeholders to ensure interoperability, privacy protection, and compliance with evolving standards.
