This session will showcase the Welsh Government’s pilot with Compass, using connected vehicle data to improve road safety and infrastructure management. Phase one analysed safety metrics, the 20 mph policy’s impact on traffic, and motorway lane use. The next phase will add advanced tools, including g-force modelling to flag high-risk sites, pedestrian crossing analysis across Wales, and video data from 50,000 vehicles for virtual patrolling and asset monitoring. Presented by Welsh Government and Compass, this case study highlights practical benefits of emerging data for safer, more efficient highways.
