I’m Ben Turner, Business Development Manager at Newline Highways. We’re a family-run contractor specialising in Vehicle Restraint Systems, Fencing, Parapets, Suction Excavation and Traffic Signs. My route into highways hasn’t been the traditional one. I started on the tools, worked my way through site delivery and now focus on business development, strategy and partnerships. That mix gives me a grounded view of how things really work on site, while still being able to look at the bigger picture. At Newline, I’ve been helping drive our growth, broadening our service lines, achieving accreditations, and building strong relationships with both local authorities and Tier 1 contractors. I’m also proud to have launched our apprenticeship programme and to keep pushing on social value, safety and sustainability. Outside of Newline, I’m involved with CIHT and contribute to PIARC, working with people across the world to share knowledge and best practice. I’m a big believer that where you start doesn’t define where you finish — and my own journey is proof of that.
Over the past year, the PIARC UK Emerging Professionals Network has grown significantly, bringing fresh perspectives to some of the industry’s biggest challenges and supporting knowledge sharing at global level. This session will highlight the group’s key achievements and the unmissable opportunity for public sector and local authority representatives to get involved. Join this session to share ideas, understand how you can get involved and help the sector innovate and adapt, ready to meet tomorrow’s challenges head-on
