Katie Pudney | Electric Vehicle Charging & Strategy Lead
Essex County Council

Katie Pudney, Electric Vehicle Charging & Strategy Lead, Essex County Council

With over 16 years’ experience in local government transport planning, I play a pivotal role in scaling electric vehicle infrastructure across Essex, having secured more than £8.5m in ORCS and LEVI funding to deliver over 5,000 public charge points by 2031. I bring extensive engagement experience with Central Government, OZEV, local authorities, CPOs, the Energy Saving Trust, DNOs and Essex residents, working collaboratively to explore innovative charging solutions for all vehicle types and environments. Above all, I am driven by a strong passion for ensuring that the transition to electric vehicles supports—rather than compromises—efforts to promote walking, cycling and public transport, and that any shift to EVs is equitable, particularly for rural communities, residents without off‑street parking, and people on lower incomes.
