Kelly Ilich, Associate Lecturer, Curtin University

I'm a teacher educator at Curtin University's School of Education with a passion for empowering future teachers to thrive in an increasingly complex, AI-driven world.

With a background in secondary Humanities and Social Sciences teaching since 2006, I now teach Initial Teacher Education units, focusing on helping pre-service teachers navigate the ever-evolving educational landscape with confidence, empathy, and innovative thinking.

Currently completing a PhD on the topic of 'teaching algorithmic literacy', my research explores how educators can build their capability to teach students about the algorithmic systems shaping their lives - from social media algorithms to generative AI. Please feel free to reach out if you would like to discuss this topic further - there is still an opportunity to participate and offer your insights into this topic, and I am interested in building national and global partnerships that will work towards addressing this issue more effectively within education systems.
