Anshul GUPTA, Advisor, Indian Railways

Sh Anshul Gupta joined Indian Railways in 1986 after completing his Master of Engineering in Computer and Information Sciences (Artificial Intelligence being specialization), from Indian Institute of Sciences, Bangalore. He has headed major divisions of Indian Railways at Adra (West Bengal), Ranchi (Jharkhand) and Delhi (New Delhi) and one of very important Railway, North East Frontier Railway, as General Manager, responsible for complete train operations, capacity enhancement, new line construction, freight and passenger traffic management, asset maintenance and safety.  Throughout his career, he had worked for Modernisation of Railway assets and safety systems. Vendor and Product Development, quality inspections and Development of suitable policies for the introduction and absorption of modern Train Control and Command systems, new Construction technologies etc on Indian Railways have been other priority areas. While working as GM NF Railway, was instrumental in taking up construction of new railway lines in the most difficult terrains of India. Development and Adoption of AI/ ML powered Fault Diagnostics, Predictive Maintenance system, AI powered OFC acoustic sensing based  Intrusion Detection system are a few projects worth mentioning. This has won Best Innovation award by PMI in South Asia, first by any Railway project. Currently working with RailTel Corporation on India as Advisor, Signalling, Innovations and International Business. Developing a Digital Twin system for Indian Railways , Cyber Signalling, quantum links and introducing concept of involving professionally accredited engineers for Signalling design, implementation, testing and project management like IRSE License are other areas in which he is currently focusing.
