Dr. Maram is a regulatory Advanced Therapy expert with a Ph.D. in Microbiology (Molecular Biology) from Howard University and a Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology from Georgetown University, USA. She brings over four years of international experience at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), where she worked in advanced regulatory science and research areas related to gene and cell therapies. During her tenure at the FDA, she was awarded the Excellence in Research Award in Gene Editing in recognition of her outstanding scientific contributions to the field of gene editing and regulatory innovation. Currently, she serves as a Senior Laboratory Expert at the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), where she leads the development and implementation of regulatory and laboratory frameworks for gene and cell therapies. She plays a key role in strengthening national regulatory systems, enhancing quality and compliance standards, and transferring international regulatory expertise to the local ecosystem to ensure readiness for advanced therapeutic technologies
