Sophie Mountcastle-Hughes, Programme Manager, Medical Research Council

Sophie is a Programme Manager in the Translation Team at the Medical Research Council, where she supports funding schemes and strategic activities for clinical and translational medical research. Her portfolio covers advanced treatments in cancer, including cancer vaccines, gene therapy, nucleic acid therapy, cell therapies, radiotherapy and antibodies. As part of her role, Sophie coordinates the network of Innovation Hubs for Gene Therapies, working with the teams at each of the three Hubs and the funders to deliver communications, skills and training, and stakeholder engagement activities. She has previous experience of managing investments on behalf of the Medical Research Council, as Science Manager for the UK Regenerative Medicine Platform.
