George Hall, Research Fellow, UCL

George is a postdoctoral research fellow in the lab of Prof Sergi Castellano at the UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health. Following his PhD in Computer Science, he moved to biology to develop computational methods to address unmet needs in translational clinical research. His research uses single-cell and spatial transcriptomics to compare biological structures, recently assessing the biological recapitulation of bioengineered oesophagi and organoid models of the developing midbrain. He is currently developing methods to allow the more sensitive comparison of samples profiled with single-cell transcriptomics and to generate realistic synthetic spatial transcriptomic datasets in settings where few reference examples are available.
