I am the Principal Pharmacist for Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs) at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, a role I have held since 2024. With over 15 years of NHS experience and a research background in neuroscience and gene therapy, I specialise in ATMP governance, implementation, regulatory compliance, education, and service development. Sheffield Teaching Hospitals is a commissioned CAR-T therapy centre with extensive experience delivering advanced therapies. In my role, I support the governance and implementation of all classes of ATMPs, including in vivo and ex vivo gene therapies, somatic cell therapies, and tissue-engineered products, across both clinical trials and routine clinical practice. As Professional Secretary to the Trust's ATMP and Genetic Modification Safety Committee (GMSC), I lead on policy development, risk management, and the integration of innovative therapies into clinical care. I work closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop governance frameworks, delivery pathways, and workforce capability that enable the safe and effective adoption of advanced therapies. I also contribute to national initiatives through the Pharmacy ATMP Network UK and have co-authored peer-reviewed publications, including work on streamlining GMO regulatory classification in UK gene therapy clinical trials. I am passionate about advancing ATMP practice, supporting workforce development, and helping healthcare organisations translate scientific innovation into safe, effective, and patient-centred care.
