Kok Leong Yap is a digital and telecommunications executive and entrepreneur with more than 30 years of experience across Southeast Asia, spanning telecoms, digital businesses, enterprise technology and commercial transformation. His career includes senior leadership roles in Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Cambodia and Nepal.

Most recently, Kok Leong held senior leadership positions within Cambodia’s Royal Group of Companies, including CEO of its Digital, Communications & Technology Division, Group Chief Digital Transformation Officer, and CEO of Cellcard. His work focused on connecting the Group’s telecommunications, banking, insurance and other businesses through shared digital capabilities, data and technology to improve customer experience, operational performance and new business development.

Previously, he was President Director and CEO of 1ENGAGE and Chief of Digital Business at Smartfren in Indonesia, where he focused on building new digital businesses and monetising telco assets through partnerships, digital platforms and new commercial models. Earlier leadership appointments included CEO of Seatel Group, Chief Commercial Officer of Ncell, Chief Marketing Officer of Smart Axiata and Chief Marketing Officer of YTL Communications.

Kok Leong also spent several years with Maxis in enterprise sales and regional leadership, and earlier held regional technology business roles with Compaq. Across his career, he has led consumer and enterprise businesses, digital product development, go-to-market strategy, business transformation and large multidisciplinary teams.

He holds a B.Sc. (Hons) in Biochemistry from the National University of Malaysia (UKM). He is currently focused on digital and AI entrepreneurship, with an emphasis on creating opportunities and developing the next generation of talent.
