Giacomo Dalla Chiara is the research lead of the Urban Freight Lab (University of Washington), an innovative workgroup of academic researchers, private companies, and public agencies addressing urban freight challenges. His research is at the nexus of urban data science, infrastructure design, and mobility behavioral science to redefine how urban logistics systems are designed and operated. He published in leading scientific journals on curb management, food insecurity, cargo bikes, and behavioral urban logistics. In October 2023, he released the white paper “Biking the Goods,” providing a blueprint for public agencies nationwide to promote the adoption of zero-emission vehicles. He holds a Ph.D. in Systems Engineering and was a Singapore President Graduate Fellow at the Singapore University of Technology & Design and a Research Scholar at MIT’s Intelligent Transportation Systems Lab.
