Camille Segarra, PhD, MBA, is Head of Intelligence & PMO for Integrated Biologics R&D at Lonza. With over 16 years of experience across biotech, pharma, and CDMOs, he operates at the intersection of science, technology, and business strategy. His work focuses on accelerating innovation through data science, advanced analytics, AI, and emerging bioprocessing technologies to enable more predictive approaches to biologics development and manufacturing. Prior to Lonza, Camille held positions at CSL Vifor, McKinsey & Company, Glenmark Pharmaceuticals, and Pall Life Sciences.

From Experimentation to Prediction: How Data-Driven Innovation is Forging Predictability Across Biologics Development and Precision Biomanufacturing

Biologics manufacturers face increasing pressure to move faster while managing growing molecular complexity and reducing risk. Success will increasingly depend on making decisions earlier at every stage of a molecule’s life cycle. Today many critical decisions are still made through iterative experimentation and sequential development or optimization cycles. In this presentation, Camille Segarra, Head of Integrated Biologics R&D Intelligence & Project Management Office at Lonza, will explore how integrated scientific knowledge, advanced analytics and data-driven innovation are enabling earlier development decisions, greater manufacturing confidence and stronger process control across the biologic's lifecycle. Drawing on advances spanning expression systems, predictive modelling, process analytical technologies (PAT), artificial intelligence and manufacturing science, he will show how connecting knowledge across R&D, development and manufacturing is enabling a shift from iterative experimentation towards increasingly predictive scientific decision-making.
