Sarah Bazen is currently the Digital Infrastructure Strategic Lead at West Sussex County Council. Sarah is at the forefront of shaping Digital Infrastructure and Connectivity in the Sussex region, leading the countywide digital agenda on behalf of 8 councils. With a strong background in strategic planning, Sarah and her team have worked closely with Government, Innovators and the Telecommunications industry for over a decade on a number of innovative and ground breaking initiatives to improve digital infrastructure across the region. This includes the 4G and 5G network deployment in beachfront and town centre locations through the Beach project (DSIT’s Open Network Ecosystems programme); innovation networks in real world food and drink production through the Growing Sussex 5G IR project (DSIT’s 5G Innovation Regions programme); deployment of 100km Council owned dark fibre and duct network connecting the regions largest economic hubs, Crawley and Brighton, in collaboration with the Cooperative Infrastructure Network (CNI).
