Minh Ta | Principal, Government Affairs
Carlyle Group

Minh Ta, Principal, Government Affairs, Carlyle Group

Minh is a Principal in the Government Affairs Department, with responsibility for providing government affairs support for Carlyle’s global credit and corporate private equity real estate businesses. Minh works on regulatory and policy changes to enhance the global credit platform and he assists Carlyle credit analysts as part of their due diligence process as they evaluate investment opportunities. Minh has been intimately involved in the broad Business Development Company (BDC) industry advocacy efforts in Washington. He has worked on legislation to address the current inaccurate reporting requirements for acquired fund fees expenses (AFFE) that prevents public traded BDCs from being included in passive indices and he has advocated for regulatory solutions to simplify the current convoluted co-investment regime involving BDCs including making the March 2020 Covid BDC exemptive relief for certain private fund follow-on co-investment transactions permanent. In addition to this credit responsibilities, Minh also works on policy and regulatory issues on behalf of Carlyle US real estate group across the federal, state and local jurisdictions. Prior to joining Carlyle, Minh worked on Capitol Hill for 12 years working primarily for Members of Congress who served on the House Financial Services Committee. Before coming to Capitol Hill, Minh worked for several policy advocacy and research organizations focused on strengthening state policies to improve the well-being of low-income children and families. Minh received his undergraduate degree from Macalester College and his master’s in public administration from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard. Minh lives with his wife Sara and their two children (Jeff and Elliot) in DC; he grew up in Philadelphia and please forgive him for being a diehard Eagles Fan.
