Lauren Hunt is an infectious diseases pharmacist who has dedicated her career to antimicrobial and diagnostic stewardship. She serves as a Medical Science Liaison on bioMérieux’s US Medical Affairs Team. Her primary role focuses on continuously improving the value of diagnostics through medical education and research, with a focus on outpatient diagnostics and stewardship. Lauren received her Bachelor's degree in Human Nutrition and Doctorate of Pharmacy from The Ohio State University. She stayed at Ohio State’s Wexner Medical Center to complete a PGY1 General Practice Residency and PGY2 Specialty Practice Residency in Infectious Diseases. After residency, she practiced as the lead ID and AMS pharmacist at a 1300-bed community hospital in Orlando, FL before making the transition to the health IT and biotechnology space. She served as the Vice president of Clinical Intelligence at ILUM Health Solutions where she assisted in the development of machine learning models in ID, led customer implementations, and executed scientific posters/publications. Lauren is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacotherapeutics and Clinical Research at the University of South Florida. She holds current memberships with the Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists, Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute, and Infectious Diseases Society of America.
This session will focus on addressing antibiotic overuse in outpatient care, emphasizing the importance of patient education, managing expectations, challenges and tools to implement stewardship practices, and the critical role of diagnostics in making informed decisions to combat antimicrobial resistance.
