Geremi Boom is an Emergency Medicine clinical pharmacist currently serving as a Medical Science Liaison at bioMerieux. She attended Northern Arizona University where she received her undergraduate degree in chemistry and later attended the University of Colorado for her doctorate in pharmacy. She completed residency at The Medical Center of Aurora specializing in critical care and emergency medicine. After residency, she practiced as the lead Emergency Medicine pharmacist at The Medical Center of Aurora, before leaving to establish an ER pharmacy program at Boulder Community Hospital. Her most current educational endeavor is obtaining a master’s degree in business administration. In addition to emergency medicine, Geremi has maintained a special passion for antimicrobial and diagnostic stewardship. She continues to be an AMS advocate by providing medical education that promotes the proper understanding and utilization of infectious disease diagnostic tests. She is also a first responder pharmacy educator for the 3Hundred Training Group and serves on the board of directors for a local non-profit organization called the JP Opioid Interaction Awareness Alliance.
This session will focus on addressing antibiotic overuse in outpatient care, emphasizing the importance of patient education, managing expectations, challenges and tools to implement stewardship practices, and the critical role of diagnostics in making informed decisions to combat antimicrobial resistance.
