Dr. Kayla Antosz attended pharmacy school at the South Carolina College of Pharmacy and graduated in 2019. She then pursued a PGY1 and PGY2 residency in Infectious Diseases at Prisma Health Richland in Columbia, SC. She currently is a clinical instructor at the University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy and the lead antimicrobial stewardship pharmacist for a statewide stewardship collaborative, titled The Antimicrobial Stewardship Collaborative of South Carolina (ASC-SC). Dr. Antosz leads antimicrobial stewardshp initiatives across the state of SC, focusing on improving antimicrobial prescribing/use in rural community hospitals and critical-access sites.
This session will focus on addressing antibiotic overuse in outpatient care, emphasizing the importance of patient education, managing expectations, challenges and tools to implement stewardship practices, and the critical role of diagnostics in making informed decisions to combat antimicrobial resistance.
