Alex Laurence, Learning Designer, NSW Department of Education

Alex Laurence is a highly regarded, Apple Distinguished Educator, recipient of the NSW Department of Education Most Innovative Teacher of the Year Award and a passionate primary school teacher.  Since leaving Gymea Bay PS in 2019, Alex has been an integral part of the NSW DoE COVID-19 Remote Learning from Home Taskforce. Her knowledge and experience in integrating digital technology in her pedagogy enabled her to scale and deliver ‘just-in-time-anywhere-anytime’ professional learning workshops to more than 65,000 public school teachers as they began to pivot from face to face classroom teaching to remote digital teaching in the face of lockdowns as part of the governments response to COVID-19.  Since this time, Alex has been part of the team providing remote tutoring and developing digital learning programs to support those students identified as having lost learning during COVID.
