Kate Lamb, Veterinarian (MANZCVS Avian Medicine and Surgery)., The House Call Vet

Dr Kate Lamb is a Brisbane-based veterinarian and graduate of the University of Queensland. She joined The House Call Vet in 2018. After a few years in practice Kate felt she wanted to improve the care she could offer to the steady stream of chicken, cockatiel and budgie patients that she was seeing. Kate sat and passed her Membership examinations in Avian Medicine and Surgery in 2022. In her daily practice she manages a diverse general-practice caseload of dogs and cats as well as birds, with a special interest in helping pet owners and fellow veterinarians feel more confident in bird care. Today, Kate will be speaking on an area close to her heart: making avian consults feel less intimidating for general practice veterinarians who may not come from an avian-specific background, and thus improving access to care for birds. Her goal is to empower colleagues with practical, achievable strategies to approach bird consults with less trepidation.
