Charles Kuntz, DVM, MS Diplomate ACVS, ACVS Founding Fellow of Surgical Oncology, Founder and Director of Southpaws Specialty Surgery for Animals, Registered Specialist of Small Animal Surgery
Charles graduated with a DVM from the University of Florida in 1990. He then did an internship at the Animal Medical Centre in New York City. He completed a Master’s Degree while doing a surgical residency at Virginia Tech. Following his interest in cardiac surgery, he did a 12 month fellowship in Cardiac Surgery and Research at Auburn University in the US. Following that, he did an 18 month Fellowship in Cancer Surgery and Research and was then an Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Colorado State University.
In 1998, Charles started a surgical referral practice in Washington DC and was on the Board of Directors for the DC Academy of Veterinary Science. In 2004, he moved to Australia where he started Southpaws Specialty Surgery for Animals. He has trained 10 surgical residents, all of whom have achieved specialist surgeon qualification.
He is an internationally recognised speaker and has published dozens of peer-reviewed journal articles, abstracts, proceeding and books chapters.
