Govinda Upadhyay is a climate entrepreneur, engineer, and Founder & CEO of SmartHelio, a Swiss AI company advancing the global energy transition through intelligent renewable energy infrastructure. He is passionate about harnessing artificial intelligence to make clean energy more reliable, affordable, and accessible while strengthening energy security and climate resilience. His work focuses on responsible and explainable AI that empowers people and accelerates the adoption of sustainable technologies. Prior to founding SmartHelio, he pursued research in renewable energy and climate modelling at EPFL after studying at BITS Pilani, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, and Eindhoven University of Technology. He also founded LEDsafari, an initiative that has inspired more than 100,000 young people through hands-on renewable energy education. Govinda is a frequent international speaker on AI, climate technology, and sustainable infrastructure, and his work has been recognized by Forbes 30 Under 30 Europe, Asia 21 Young Leaders, the Unreasonable Fellowship, and several leading innovation organizations. His mission is to ensure that artificial intelligence becomes a force for a cleaner, more resilient, and more equitable world.
