Damon Leong leads the Marketing and Solution Sales Department, of Huawei Malaysia Digital Power, driving strategic business development and technical analysis of future grid requirements. With vast experience in BESS, solar microgrids, telecommunications power, and transportation electrification, he has been instrumental in designing business models for renewable energy developers, ensuring the success of Malaysia’s renewable energy ecosystem. He works closely with key industry stakeholders in Malaysia, including the Energy Commission, BOMBA, Grid System Operator (GSO), Single Buyer (SB) and Tenaga Nasional Berhad, to enhance renewable energy standards, particularly in grid-forming and safety requirements for PV and BESS installations. Damon has also been inducted into Malaysia’s TC120 standards committee, contributing and supporting the localization of IEC62933 electrical energy storage standards for Malaysia. Damon has successfully executed POC deployments for utility-scale PV projects and developed commercial BESS applications, contributing to the advancement of renewable energy solutions and their integration into the future energy landscape
