Thomas Czarnetzki is an energy-sector consultant and asset management specialist with more than 11 years of experience in German energy utilities. As a Manager in EY Malaysia’s Energy Transition team, he supports utilities, developers and government stakeholders in navigating digitalisation, decentralisation, and investment planning challenges in the evolving Malaysian energy landscape. Before relocating to Malaysia, Thomas held senior leadership roles at Stadtwerke Düsseldorf in Germany, where he led cross-functional teams in asset management, network strategy, and large‑scale decarbonisation projects—including battery energy storage systems, heat pumps, and digital substation technologies. His expertise spans maintenance strategy, grid planning, regulatory compliance, lifecycle investment optimisation, and the implementation of asset management systems. Thomas holds a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering with a focus on energy management and is recognised for his analytical approach, strategic mindset, and ability to manage complex transformation programmes.
