Dr. Eng. Bayu Indrawan is an Indonesian technopreneur, academician, and expert in renewable energy, waste-to-energy technology, and circular economy. He earned his Doctor of Engineering in Environmental Science and Technology from the Tokyo Institute of Technology, specializing in waste-to-energy systems. He is the founder of the Center of Waste Management Indonesia (CWMI) and has led multiple companies in energy, environment, and technology sectors. Dr. Bayu pioneered Indonesia’s first commercial-scale hydrothermal waste treatment facility and plastic-to-oil conversion initiatives. Recognized as an Indonesian Inspirative Talent in Science and Technology (2018) by Majalah Intisari – Kompas Gramedia Group, he also serves as Regional Chair of the Global WtERT Council Indonesia, and is a member of the Japan Institute of Energy and International Solid Waste Association. He founded the Aljazari Foundation and STEM Indonesia, promoting education, innovation, and sustainability. In 2025, he was appointed to the Indonesia Higher Education Council (Dewan Pendidikan Tinggi RI) to help advance the nation’s higher education and research innovation.
