Mike Cains is the founder director of the sustainability focused, energy positive and award winning Pecora Dairy based in Robertson.  An agri-business that encompasses a National Brand of Farmhouse Cheeses and a Euro-inspired cheese and wine bar. Before embarking on Pecora Dairy, Mike was a Senior Executive in the property analysis and media sector working for public listed businesses such as Fairfax Media and Core Logic (the worlds largest data analytics firm). He is a 2021 Nuffield Scholar and the inaugural Alla Wolf Tasker - Good Food Matters Scholar.  Pecora dairy has won numerous awards including champion cheese at the Sydney Royal twice in the the last 3 years, the Delicious Produce Awards National Trophy for Dairy Products and twice a finalist of the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW Presidents medal that awards businesses achieving triple bottom line and food quality excellence. Mike is passionate about how energy efficiency, resilience, circular farming and renewable energy put farmers at the heart of the solution on climate change, rather than be seen as the problem. He is a founding member of a group of agribusinesses that joined together, as a community, to be energy positive and trade energy. They founded a "first of its kind" agricultural Virtual Energy Network (VEN) that allows peer to peer trading amongst particpants. Mike is passionate about the potential of the sector to achieve energy efficiency, energy security and stronger farm enterprises through the strategic use renewables and tech within a community based framework
