Maxmillian Kwarteng, Deputy Director, Renewable Department, BUI POWER AUTHORITY

Leveraging over 14 years of hands-on experience within the West African sub-regional energy sector, I manage complex, multi-faceted energy projects involving cross-functional teams. Ing. Kwarteng holds an MBA in Green Energy and Sustainable Businesses from the Bologna Business School, University of Bologna, Italy. He started his career as an environmental engineer, where he worked as the municipal environmental engineer for the Government of Ghana for two years.

  • Currently, Ing. Kwarteng is the Deputy Director (Renewable Department), BUI Power Authority;
  • Ing. Kwarteng is a Technical member of the National Energy Transition Committee
  • Ing. Kwarteng has served as the Technical Advisor on Renewable Energy to the Honourable Minister for Energy in Ghana (2021–2022), where he played key roles such as the recent utility tariff review and rationalization and National Energy Transition
  • He is a Board Member with the Industrial Advisory Board for the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR);
  • He is also a Technical Committee member for Renewable Energy Standards with the Ghana Standards Authority.
  • Managing Director for Strategic Power Solutions (SPS): Solar PV Panel Manufacturing Plant
As the Senior Technical Manager for Utility-Scale and C&I projects at Strategic Security Systems. He led several projects, including developing
  • 4MWp floating Solar Project at the Bui Generating Station
  • Supervise the Operations and Maintenance of the ground-mount solar PV plant
  • the development of 912 kWp Jubilee House Solar Project;
  • the installation of 1000 solar-powered mechanised boreholes across Ghana
  • the installation of about 18,000 Solar Street Lights in Cocoa and coffee-growing communities in Ghana
  • He completed energy feasibility studies for over 650 facilities for the Ghana Catholic Church under a USTDA grant.
He is also a professional member of the Ghana Institution of Engineering and a member of the International Association of Engineering.
