At SGInnovate’s inception, Augustus was tasked with driving the fund's investments in healthcare, a new vertical at the time. When he left in 2020, healthcare investments had grown to represent the largest vertical in the overall portfolio and SGInnovate itself is recognised as one of the most active VCs in SEA. He has been involved in some of SGInnovate's landmark investments in healthcare, including ODS Medical, alongside category leader Intuitive Surgical; NDR Medical, the fund's first early-stage healthcare investment which has since attracted strategic investment from MicroPort; Biofourmis, which closed the largest healthtech fundraise in SEA to date, led by Softbank's Vision Fund 2; and HealthBeacon, the fund's first overseas investment in healthcare. Augustus is now Head of Business Development at New Zealand Trade and Enterprise with a focus on the healthcare portfolio, which includes such companies as Fisher & Paykel Healthcare and Fort Richard Laboratories.
