Nopparat (Kai) Aumpa | Senior Assistant Vice President & General Manager

Ms. Nopparat Aumpa is the SAVP/General Manager for Banyan Tree Bangkok and Head of Pre-Opening Task Force, coming full circle after starting her career at Banyan Tree Group twenty eight years ago. In this role, she is responsible for ensuring that the urban hotel operates in line with the Group’s mission statement, meeting fiscal and qualitative objectives. She will take charge of leading, coordinating and supervising the entire operational activities in the Group’s 61-storey iconic hotel in Bangkok.

Ms. Aumpa’s managerial career began in 1996 when she joined The Westin Banyan Tree Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand, as Assistant Manager in the Front Office department. At the start of her tenure at Banyan Tree Bangkok, she demonstrated strong hospitality skills and immediately moved through the ranks, of Front Office Manager (1998), Director of Rooms (2001), and Executive Assistant Manager (2004).

Furthering her exposure in Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts and building up senior leadership skills, she was a key member of the opening team which launched Banyan Tree Ringha, China in July 2005 and Royale Hayat Hospital, Kuwait in October 2006. She also managed the Double Pool Villa opening at Banyan Tree Phuket when she was appointed Executive Assistant Manager–Rooms, from 2005 to 2007, before being appointed as the Hotel Manager for Angsana Bintan from 2007 to 2009. Following that, she was part of the core pre-opening team for the Banyan Tree Mayakoba in 2009, before going on to open Banyan Tree Samui and become its Resident Manager from 2010 to 2012. She also had a short stint as part of the pre opening team at Banyan Tree Tianjin in July 2012 and then ultimately return back to Banyan Tree Bangkok as Hotel Manager in 2012. Due to her strength in people development skills, she is also one of the facilitators at Banyan Tree’s Talent Management Programme.

Throughout her career, Ms Aumpa has always been passionate about the hospitality industry, ever since she started her hospitality career as a Guest Relations Officer in Arnoma Swiss Hotel. She believes that each Banyan Tree properties are like women – with each one having a unique and stylish personality.

She is a graduate of Bachelor of Arts from Thammasart University in Bangkok, Thailand, Faculty of Liberal Arts, majoring in History, and minor in English. She also has a Certificate of Education in the Professional Development Program from Cornell University School of Hotel Management in New York, USA. In her aim to continuously develop herself, she as well studied e-Cornell online. 22 September 2024

In 2017 Ms. Aumpa completed her Executive MBA at the Sasin Graduate Institute of Business Administration of Chulalongkorn University in Thailand and in Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University. She later earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Tourism, Hotel and Event Management from Silpakorn University. She is fluent in English, besides the Thai language which is her mother tongue. Ms.

In 2018, Banyan Tree Bangkok achieved its highest financial performance since its opening, surpassing its previous record-breaking year in 2017. Ms. Nopparat Aumpa was subsequently recognized for her exceptional leadership, being nominated as a finalist for the Best General Manager Award at The Hotelier Awards Asia 2018 in Singapore. Her accomplishments continued with her receiving Thailand’s Best General Manager Award (Hotelier) 2019 by CMO Asia and the Thailand Best Employer Brand Award 2019 for Banyan Tree Bangkok. In January 2020, Ms. Aumpa was honored with AACSB’s 2020 Influential Leader Award and the Sasin Distinguished Alumni Award 2020. Further cementing her status as a leading figure in hospitality, she has been consistently celebrated in recent years: Third Favorite Hotel General Manager in Thailand (Travel Leisure Asia 2022), where she was the only female leader recognized. Second Best Hotel General Manager in Thailand (Travel & Leisure Luxury Awards Asia Pacific 2023), again as the sole female leader in the category. Fourth Best Hotel General Manager in Thailand (Travel & Leisure Luxury Awards Asia Pacific 2024) and Third Best Hotel General Manager in Thailand (Travel & Leisure Luxury Awards Asia Pacific 2025-2026), maintaining her position as the only female leader recognized. These accolades reflect her outstanding contributions to Banyan Tree Bangkok's success and her pioneering role in the hospitality industry.

In the past 28 years of her career journey with Banyan Tree Hotels and Resorts, she has achieved many great things on both professional and personal growth and has groomed several Banyan Tree associates in line with her strong passion in people development. Having been recently indorsed as the SAVP / General Manager, Banyan Tree Bangkok, Ms. Aumpa wishes to bring her knowledge and expertise to continually support the Banyan Tree Hotels and Resort’s pre-opening task force, support future development opportunities in Thailand and actively promote strengthening our brands uniqueness as Brand Assurance Champion. 22 September 2024
