Michael Akira serves a pivotal role within the Chamber of Mines, Ghana, bringing a multidisciplinary background in Law, Economics, and Finance to the organization. Prior to this, he held senior positions across the financial, legal, and mining sectors, including Company Secretary & Head of Legal & Compliance at SIC Financial Services Ltd, where he helped manage US$74 million in assets and was part of the team overseeing the US$10 million Bedrock Venture Capital Fund. Michael’s experience spans leadership and advisory roles in both the private and corporate sectors, including as General Manager of SW Global Ghana and as an Associate at Bentsi-Enchill, Letsa & Ankomah, where he advised on major mining transactions such as IFC’s US$125 million funding of Newmont’s Ahafo project and Redback Mining’s acquisition of Chirano Mines. His diverse expertise in law, compliance, finance, and mining positions him as a key contributor to the Chamber’s mission of advancing Ghana’s mining sector.
