Marco Fais, Iglesias, Italy   Drawing on nearly four decades of experience in international security and intelligence, Marco Fais is a seasoned expert in strategic and operational analysis, project management, and capacity building for international agencies. He has a proven track record of significant contributions across numerous high-impact roles with organisations like EUROPOL, NATO, INTERPOL, Schengen, CEPOL, FRONTEX, and the United Nations. In a recent role, he served as a Team Leader at FRONTEX, where a team of twenty was successfully led and three key work streams on legal and procedural issues were coordinated and delivered. Prior to that, as a Criminal Intelligence Analyst at INTERPOL, he briefed high-ranking officials and established crucial conditions for intelligence exchange between agencies and countries. Earlier in his career, at EUROPOL, he streamlined reporting to senior management and delivered nine versions of an IT system as a Specialist Information Analyst and Change Manager. He holds multiple Master's and PGCert degrees in Security Management, Terrorism and Security, and Information Technology from UK universities, complementing foundational education in the disciplines of the European Union and International Relations. Proficient in Italian, English, French, Dutch, and Spanish, he is also a published author of several articles on jihadist groups and security in the Sahel region. His management style and vision as leader of teams is of the leader as servant. He truly believes on the collective effort of the team, understands the purpose of each team member and praises their effort. He believes in the concept of Mens sana in corpore sano, exercising regularly on long distance running. Loves introducing changes and improvements to processes and procedures when he sees an opportunity for them. His favourite hobbies are reading about science and biology, geopolitics, and playing chess.
