John Erik Setsaas is a recognized thought leader with > 25 years pioneering digital identity. For the past decade, he has focused on helping financial institutions tackle critical challenges including identity verification, fraud prevention, and money laundering. More recently, he has been exploring the dual role of AI in fraud; how fraudsters weaponize it, and how we harness AI to fight back.  A sought-after speaker, John Erik regularly presents at top fintech and identity events such as Money20/20 Europe, idNext, MyData, Digital Finance World, Mobile World Congress, Trustech, KuppingerCole EiC, and FinTech Connect. Known for his engaging style, he breaks down complex topics using quirky examples and pop culture references, making digital identity both understandable and memorable.  John Erik has served as Director of Innovation, Financial Crime Prevention at Tietoevry Banking, focusing on identity, fraud, and anti-money laundering. His earlier roles include VP of Identity & Innovation at Signicat, Chief Development Architect for SAP Identity Management, and Assistant Professor at the University of South-Eastern Norway.  He is a former board member of EEMA, Europe’s leading digital identity think tank, and a recipient of the EEMA Lifetime Achievement Award. He chairs the Mobey Forum fraud expert group, and advises the Global Trust Foundation, continuing to shape the future of digital identity and trust.  He is currently Principal Advisor and Founder, Setsaas Trust Advisory.
