Michael is the Chief Compliance Officer of Airbnb’s payments business in the European Economic Area and leads a team with accountability for compliance and regulatory engagement throughout the region. He also serves as a director of Airbnb’s Canadian payments entity. Prior to Airbnb, Michael was CCO of Amazon’s EU payments business. He has extensive experience managing regulatory change across payments and banking in Europe combined with deep corporate governance expertise. Michael spent over a decade in senior leadership positions at Royal Bank of Canada in Europe and is also a former partner at Loyens & Loeff, where he launched the firm’s financial regulatory practice.
