Professor Ian Li is an economist and Director of Research and Policy at the Australian Centre for Student Equity and Success. He specialises in health and labour economics, with current work focusing on various topics in higher education equity and policy, such as higher education access and participation for students from equity backgrounds, the intersection between employment and university study, determinants of student experience and academic outcomes, and graduate outcomes. Ian has received multiple institutional teaching awards for his teaching in economics, law and public health, and an international award conferred by the Council of Academic Public Health Institutions Australasia. He has oversight of the nationally competitive research programs run by ACSES, and has served on grant panels for the Medical Research Future Fund, and assesses for the Australian Research Council. He is an IZA Fellow at the IZA Institute of Labor, University of Bonn, and has held visiting appointments at Harvard University, Swansea University, and the University of Melbourne.
