Tatsuya Izumi joined New Tokyo International Airport Authority, the predecessor to Narita International Airport Corporation (“NAA”) in April 2000. Since joining NAA, he has been assigned to various departments, including planning, design and construction, operation and maintenance of various airport facilities. He has acquired extensive knowledge on airport operation and management from the experience. He was also assigned to Japan International Transport Institute (JITI) in Washington DC from 2015 to 2018. During his tenure in JITI, he conducted a variety of research projects, not only specific to the airport industry but also the aviation industry as well as U.S. government policies. After returning to NAA, he was assigned to Airport Planning Department and developed a whole new concept of the BHS for the new passenger terminal building opening in ten years’ time. He has also been striving to promote implementation of cutting-edge technologies including AI, robotics and autonomous vehicles in the airport operation.
