Mohammad Abdelmotagaly, Chair of Technical Committee, Arabian Accreditation Cooperation (ARAC)

With over 30 years of experience in accreditation, conformity assessment, and human resource development, he has played a vital role in advancing the management and analytical systems of laboratories across the MENA region. His core expertise lies in analytical chemistry, instrumental analysis, food and environmental testing, petrochemicals, forensic science, and pharmaceutical analysis. He has led numerous initiatives to build laboratory capacity, enhance technical infrastructure, and implement quality management systems, with a focus on sustainability and regional harmonization. He has served as a lead and technical assessor in hundreds of assessments for testing laboratories, certification bodies, and inspection bodies worldwide, with specialization in ISO/IEC 17020, 17021, 17024, 17025, 17029, 17043, 17065, ISO 15189, and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP). He has supported the development of analytical systems across multiple disciplines and trained laboratory managers and personnel to meet evolving analytical and regulatory demands. His work has directly contributed to improving laboratory performance, safety, and international recognition. As a an expert to international organizations, UNIDO has led projects aimed at strengthening laboratory systems and technical competence in developing countries. His contributions include the design, lab safety and implementation of programs in laboratory management systems, method validation, uncertainty estimation, and internal and external quality assurance, and promoting green laboratory sustainability initiatives. He received his B.Sc. in Chemistry from the Faculty of Science, Cairo University. He is a recognized expert in Halal, environmental, and cosmetic product conformity systems, and is proficient in working with standards from ISO, ASTM, CEN, AOAC, GSO, UAE, and SMIIC. He contributes to international standardization and the QI4SD and plays an active role in policy development through his leadership and membership in technical committees of ILAC, IAF, ARAC, and SMIIC. Currently, he serves as Accreditation Advisor to the Emirates International Accreditation Centre (EIAC) and Chair of the Technical Committee of the Arab Accreditation Cooperation (ARAC). He is also a lecturer at the University of Dubai – Center for Executive Development and a training facilitator for multiple regional and international organizations.
