Eng Alfred Gunzo joined the National Railways of Zimbabwe in 1989 as a Trainee Mechanical Engineer. He has worked in different capacities starting as Section Engineer in charge of Rolling Stock in 1991 after completing his traineeship and later as Section Engineer in charge of diesel locomotives, Workshop Engineer in charge of one of the largest Integrated Workshops in Africa, Assistant Chief Engineer, to Chief Engineer Traction and Rolling Stock.
Whilst working as Section Engineer Diesel, he Lead a team of engineers and technicians to re-engine 64 shunt locomotives
In 2008 Engineer Alfred Gunzo was instrumental in carrying out a general service on Botswana locomotive BD 220 which he personally handed over to Botswana Railways on 13 June 2008 at Plumtree.
He is the Past Chairman of the Zimbabwe Institution of Engineers Matabeleland Chapter and is actively involved in Research and Innovation Socio-Economic Transformation activities carried out at Universities in Zimbabwe.
Currently Eng. Alfred Gunzo is the acting Director (Technical Services) of the National Railways of Zimbabwe.
