Jamie graduated with a dual EMBA degree from UCLA-NUS. As CEO/Regional Marketing Director, Jamie spearheads Scanteak’s regional branding initiatives, manages overseas franchises, and oversees Scanteak Singapore’s business operations. With her first job in Hollywood, Jamie made the switch from marketing films, to marketing the local furniture brand, Scanteak, in 2004. By 2006, the number of Scanteak showrooms had doubled across the region. Under Jamie’s influence, Scanteak has won several brand awards, such as the Promising Brand Award (2005), CitiBusiness – SPBA Regional Brand Award (2006, 2013), SuperBrands (2009), the Singapore Good Design Award (Singapore)(2015, 2019), the Good Design Award (Japan)(2015), the IPOS Award for Design Innovation (2015), the President’s Design Award Singapore (2015), and the SFIC’s SOL Awards under Experiential Excellence Category (2023). The Scanteak group also introduced two new brands under Jamie’s charge: ScanKomfort (mattresses) and ScanLiving (leather sofas). In 2010, Scanteak’s Taiwan operations became publicly listed in Taiwan and has been progressively expanding, with Jamie’s assistance as one of the directors sitting on the board. Back at home in Singapore, Scanteak has 10 showrooms as of 2024, with a renewed business strategy in creating brand awareness and increasing sales through roadshows and mall atrium pop-ups. The Group now has over 180 showrooms worldwide and is one of the biggest furniture retailers in Singapore and Taiwan. Under Jamie’s leadership, Scanteak is heavily driven in efforts of sustainability. Scanteak products are SVLK-certified (Indonesian Timber Legality Assurance System). The SVLK is a mandatory system that requires all timber from state-owned and private forests in Indonesia to obtain verification of legality – as a guarantee that the timber originates from legal, sustainably-managed sources. This initiative was led by Jamie not long after she joined the family business in her vision to foster sustainability and play a part in conserving the future. Scanteak furniture is also tested and proven that they contain low formaldehyde levels, hence making the furniture safe to be used even in a family environment. The budding of digital transformation within the company came about when Jamie led the initiative to start an E-commerce store for the Scanteak brand. Scanteak now has an official website with an online shopping platform, and is also present on Shopee and Lazada. Since then, she has been exploring the space and tools of technology and the brand is now embarking on a full-fledged digital transformation journey, which includes the leveraging of AR & AI technologies to improve retail experience and work automation. Scanteak was also granted the Business Excellence Certification (June 2017) by Spring Singapore, for meeting the requirements of the Singapore Quality Class (SQC and Singapore Service Class (S-Class). Jamie's work extends beyond the confines of the company. She believes a successful for-profit enterprise can impact customers, team members, working partners and the society through strong business ethics, work excellence as well as social contributions. Besides forging close partnerships with local tertiary institutes through internships, special projects and serving on various IHL boards to advise on program directions and industry relevance, Jamie has also reinforced the importance of Design in the retail industry through collaborations with award-winning designers such as Outofstock, which is the design studio behind the award-winning Scanteak’s Prologue Collection. Jamie is the winner of the JCI TOYP (Ten Outstanding Young Persons of the World) Singapore Award 2012, and she recently had the honour of receiving the ASEAN Women Entrepreneurs Network (AWEN) Award 2024 and the Singapore Women Entrepreneurs Network (SG-WEN) Award 2024 and International Furniture Leadership Award 2025. She also currently serves as a member of the Tripartite Cluster for the Retail (TCR) (2024 - 2026), a council chaired by Ms Yeo Wan Ling, Member of Parliament.
